BAR FALLS BEHIND FIRMS ON GENDER EQUALITY
This article by Felicity Nelson which appeared in Lawyers Weekly on 29 July 2015 features comments by Caroline Kirton QC, chair of the Equal Opportunity Committee of the Law Council of Australia. Ms Kirton is quoted as referring to the Bar Chambers as the last bastions of conservatism but also refers to steps being taken in her home State of Victoria to address gender inequality issues. One example is Barristers Briefing Reports, which are reports outlining what proportion of barristers briefed by government are women.
